New York Farm Viability Institute, Inc. Hires Development Coordinator
Syracuse, NY — The New York Farm Viability Institute, Inc. has hired Patricia McGlynn as its Development Coordinator. Ms. McGlynn is working with agricultural producers and green industry growers and stakeholders to develop projects that increase producer sales and profits. The Institute’s trademark is farmer involvement in projects that result in direct, measurable benefits to producers.
“We are pleased to add Pat McGlynn to the New York Farm Viability Institute team to help New York’s producers access cutting-edge research and expertise to enable them to achieve a stronger position in local, national and global marketplaces,” says New York Farm Viability Institute, Inc. Executive Director R. David Smith.
Ms. McGlynn will also be developing and maintaining the funding streams that allow the Institute to provide programs and grants. She holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business from the State University of New York at Cobleskill, and a masters degree in agricultural education and a Ph.D. in education from Cornell University. As a youth, she workedon Stan Murphy’s Guernsey farm in Tully. Ms. McGlynn also has 20 years’ experience in the horticultural industry.
While at Cornell, Ms. McGlynn coordinated a U.S. Department of Agriculture project that took her to China, Hong Kong, South Africa, Ireland and Honduras. In 2003-2004, she co-taught a Global Seminar course that video-conferenced university students from six countries. She is the founder of Farm on Wheels, Inc., a not-for-profit that provided agricultural education programs to inner city youth and that was featured on CBS.
“I expect to combine my agricultural business and fundraising experience with my marketing abilities and a passion for agricultural learning as development coordinator for the New York Farm Viability Institute,“ Ms. McGlynn says.
