Beginning farmer training includes business planning, marketing

A four-part workshop for new and aspiring farmers planned for March by Cornell Cooperative Extension educators will explore business planning and other topics to help get farms started.

The class will run from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturdays March 1-22 at Tully Town Hall, 5833 Meeting House Road.

The course will include programs in assessing and evaluating your physical resources, business planning, marketing products, and other topics. Each workshop will include local farmer speakers who will share their experiences, as well as hands-on work and exercises to examine logistical considerations of interest to each participant.

The training, offered by the New York Beginning Farmer Project of Cornell University’s Small Farms program, is possible in part from funding by the New York Farm Viability Institute.

The cost for the four-session class is $25 per person or $40 per couple. To register, contact Karen Baase at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Madison County, 315-684-3001.
